On June 21st La’Shawn had just left the graduation of her cousin’s daughter from The Harlem Children Zone at 125th Street and Madison Avenue.
While waiting to cross the street La’Shawn was struck by a car attempting to park. The force of the impact resulted in the SUV running over the left side of her body and coming to rest on top of her on the sidewalk. Due to the severity of her injuries the recovery period will be long and her lost wages will be significant as she is self employed as a Licensed Esthetician and Lash Stylist. A link to the story as it appeared on the news is attached.
She lost her spleen and kidney. Has multiple broken ribs which punctured her lungs. She also suffered liver damage along with a fractured shoulder, a bruised a scapula and spine. She has various surface scrapes and bruises along with a sprained wrist. Her internal bleeding has stopped and she's currently breathing on her own. So some progress is being made even though she is still in the ICU.
La’Shawn is a devoted mother and advocate for her 10 year old son, Joshua. He has multiple disabilities and relies on her for his care. From her hospital bed she still focuses on his well being. A full and complete recovery is what we pray for so she can continue to take care of the love of her life, Josh. Thanks goes out to family, friends and strangers both near and far for prayers and well wishes.
I am Michael Peterson from Pleasantville, NY and I am La'Shawn's partner for the past eight years. Her son Josh is like a son to me. I assist her in the care of her son but now I'll be caring for both of them until she's able to assume her normal duties. The money you donate goes directly to La'Shawn's account and will be spent on living and medical expenses for her and Joshua. As a self employed Esthetician, Skin Care Therapist and Lash Stylist, La'Shawn will benefit from your donation until she is able to get back on her feet and able to earn a living. Her income stopped the day of her accident. The full extent and lasting effects of her injuries and length of her rehabilitation is yet to be determined so your donation and prayers will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Michael Peterson
