I was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure which has now progressed to Chronic Kidney Failure Stage 5, thus causing me to be in need of a kidney transplant. I’ve been on dialysis for almost a year, and though it is tough I am thankful that modern technology provides all kidney patients with this type of treatment to survive until we are able to find a donor. Most kidney patients stay on the transplant list for approximately 3-5 years if they are unable to find a living donor, but I have faith in God that he will provide me with a donor allot sooner than that.

Prior to kidney failure I was an outgoing, fun loving individual who loves music, singing, swimming at the beach, and just doing the all-around fun things that most people do. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still love to do all of those things, it’s just not in the same manner due to fatigue, sickness and other issues. But I try to live a normal life even if it’s my new normal.

I’ll let you in on a little secret, I never thought in a millions years that this could happen to me. A simple virus came into my life, and turned it upside down.  But, know that I’m a fighter, and I’m going to keep
fighting until I find a donor or the transplant center finds one for me.

Now once I am able to receive a kidney, I will need to remain near the hospital for approximately 2-3 months at the minimum, and return to/from the hospital 3 -4 times a week until I am released to return home.  This will cause a significant loss of income, expenses for hotel, food, travel, etc. that will not be paid by the insurance company.
