ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Hello! My name is Laser (you may know me from a band called the Doubleclicks)! Laser is my name - but the law doesn’t know that yet.
I am a trans non-binary person (they/them)! And I would like to change my name so that I don’t keep hearing my deadname in professional situations, and also so I can officiate my friends wedding as my real name later this year!
Unfortunately, in Los Angeles, it costs $435 to change your name. I’m asking for $500 because of transaction fees and also because I’ll need to get a new license and spend two days at the court and DMV doing these things!
I’m really excited to get my name changed, but also, it’s expensive! But I feel weird just asking for money, AND I enjoy having a fun participatory event—so here’s something fun—I am live-streaming Sunday, January 12 at 11am Pacific—at http://twitch.tv/doubleclickslive! I will use it to do these things in this order:
cover the cost of my top surgery (about $3000)
possibly to help a friend get their name changed ($435)
donate to a trans charity (anything beyond that)

I don’t have a good answer for this but maybe I’ll talk about it on stream!!
What if I can't watch your stream?
