We Were ROBBED - Las Vegas Podcaster Studios

This year my podcast co-hosts and myself pooled our own money and started up a professional podcast studio, not just for us, but for other creators in the Podcast and YouTube space. It was risky and expensive, but we did it because we are passionate about creating content.

The financial investment was steep, but we all went in on it together. Our studio was not yet open to the public, so we did not yet have business owner's insurance - this was something we were about to get once our equipment purchases were complete. Unfortunately, we waited a bit too long.

On the night of May 6th, 2023, there was a break-in at our office building. Our studio was targeted by 2 burglars who smashed their way into our locked office and stole $5,000 worth of audio and video equipment. This included:

3 Sony ZV-e10 4k Cameras

1 Rodecaster Pro 2

2 Sure SM7B microphones

2 low profile mic arms

1 High End Editing and Multimedia PC

2 Portable monitors

1 Bluetooth keyboard

Though the robbery could have been worse, we still lost about $5,000 worth of equipment we need to replace before we can open for business. Because we only had liability insurance, the equipment that was stolen is not covered, and we have little faith that the police will be able to find who broke in and recover what was taken. Though hindsight is 20/20 and we will be improving our security in the studio, we are now behind the 8-ball when it comes to paying for this equipment. As a small, self-funded start-up business, our margins are very tight, and it will take us some time to get the money to replace what was lost (not to mention pay for the increased security measures).

We are starting a GoFundMe to raise the funds to quickly replace the equipment that was stolen. We were hoping to be open for business to the public by the end of May, but this will set us back a bit. We hope that our community, supporters, and fans of the Salty Nerd Podcast will help us to raise the funds needed to recover from this terrible break-in.
