We have two young ladies physically and mentally preparing for a high level Jiu-Jitsu tournament for kids called the IBJJF Pan Kids Jiu-Jitsu Championship (often referred to as the Pan-Am Games for Jiu-Jitsu), which is once a year and hosted in Long Beach, California. IBJJF stands for International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Many children from all over the world come to compete at this annual tournament, representing their team and their country. The two young warrior princesses are Mariana BOWEN (age 11) and Mariana WING (age 8). Yes, both their names are Mariana, lol. No, they are not biological sisters, just good friends and training partners at BOWEN Combative Arts Academy in Clarksville, TN. Both girls will be competing on February 8th, 2020.
Mariana BOWEN has competed once at the Pan Kids in February 2018 placing 3rd (bronze medal), then later that year she competed at the IBJJF Kids International Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Las Vegas in August 2018 becoming the champion, medaling in both competitions as a grey belt, she is now a yellow belt. Last year she competed in the TN State JUDO Championship and became the 2019 TN State JUDO Champion. Mariana Bowen has also competed in multiple Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and multiple Pro Jiu-Jitsu match-ups on the big stage in Nashville and in Memphis.
Mariana WING has won and medaled in multiple Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournaments, and has competed on the big stage in her first BJJ Pro Match-up in 2019. This will be Mariana WING's premiere time competing at the Pan Kids Jiu-Jitsu Championship in California.
Both young ladies have been working hard preparing for this high-level competition, as well as studying & doing all their schoolwork and everyday life at home doing chores and having fun. Both girls train hard, they have often times competed in grappling matches against boys, they both come from homes that have high standards in faith, values, honor, respect, integrity, courage, discipline, etc... Although both girls would be considered "tom boys", they love wearing dresses, getting their nails done, but also playing with slime, haha.
This is a such a great opportunity for these young ladies to represent other girls in standing up to bullies and the fight against depression. They could use your support in the helping with the costs for travel, lodging, and food. By showing your support we can and will give you a "shout out" on FaceBook on our dojo page "BOWEN Combative Arts Academy". Also, if we make it to the medal stands, we will give you a 4x6 picture of us standing on the medal stands. By the way, you will be able to watch the Pan Kids matches live on FloGrappling.com
We appreciate your support, including and most importantly: prayers for safe travels to and from California, and safety & good sportsmanship in all their matches.
Thank you & God Bless,
Don Bowen, father of Mariana Bowen
Don Wing, father of Mariana Wing
