Setting this up for my very dear friend Mercedes, and her family. Her 18 yr old son Larsen was in a horrible car accident Friday night. He’s a senior at Big Spring High School.
Merci is the first person to drop everything and make sure her friends are good. She deserves that same love tenfold. The smallest amount allows her to stay by his side.

I’ll post her updates below:

We are in need of prayers. My son, Larsen was in a horrible car accident last night. He is currently in the AICU at Holy Spirit. His brain stem is bleeding and other parts of his brain. He is intubated and non responsive to their tests. There are many more injuries and the severity is still being accessed. A drain was placed to monitor and relieve some of the pressure. He has multiple skull fractures as well. He was in the car for a very long time before being rescued. Which also contributed to the extent of his injuries. The neurosurgeon said this is now a waiting game. Please please pray for my baby and our family. I am making this post sharable.

Thank you to everyone who shared my post requesting prayers for Larsen. I am overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and prayers. I can not tell you how much you are all appreciated.
The update— Machines are doing all the work. They don’t want his body to do any of the breathing. His heart was beating faster than it should but is only pumping half the rate. HR now 129. His brain stem is still swollen. And will be for up to a week. The bleeding is the main issue and will be monitored with daily cat scans. There are fluids coming out of the brain stem drain. This is good (They shaved his head to put it in and we’ve been teasing him about it) They are giving him anti convulsants, so he would quit fighting the breathing tube and to protect the brain as well. Pupils are reactive to light. Slow. But reactive. He will remain sedated until a better prognosis. We were not allowed to see him after the drain was put in. About 11 hours until he was stable. Last night I thought I lost my child.
The hand I’m holding today was once so small and it holds my entire heart. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Going on 24 hours since accident-
Starting at the top of monitor going down; Heart rate is good. Was up to 150. Pulmonologist said his lungs sound great despite the contusions on them. 15 is the breaths per minute he’s taking. Sometimes it’s 18 and the machine is breathing 16. That means he’s trying to breathe on his own. Yellow BP readings are staying in the same range. Oxygen rate is great at 100%. I’m sorry I can’t remember the red numbers but they’re good. And .trying to keep him on the cooler side with a cooling blanket to prevent swelling (98.6°F rn). The number I skipped, the purple, is the most important. It measures the pressure in his brain. When the drain was placed , it was 30! They want low teens to single digit. It dropped 2 points while we were holding his hands. He is a fighter.
