Lars' PANDAS Treatment
Donation protected
As many have read and become aware of, we are struggling with a recent and sadly, "controversial," diagnosis of PANDAS for Lars and finding proper care. We had this confirmed again yesterday at a local rheumatologist, with little direction where to go at this point.
Thanks to stories shared and connections made, through the care and concern of friends and family...we have found someone outside of Atlanta, about 2.5ish hours from us, to see him. We will be traveling there next Monday (3/25) for the long evaluation, possible further testing and plan moving forward (hopefully not to include medications we are strongly against and could have lasting detriments!).
However, the specialist does not accept insurance and the fees associated with the Integrative Doctor, versed and proven to help children overcome and return to themselves, following the immune, neuro and psychiatric response to a common infectious disease (strep), comes at a high cost!
I am not one to ask for assistance, but do know I have some that encouraged this route, as a way for them to help Lars and our family, since this has turned our world and home upside down!
I have been saving for nursing school to start in May, missed work as a result and am trying to stay the course, for an all around better life for all. This could deplete those funds and put us in debt that we cannot sustain!
I am humbling myself to ask if you feel led to donate even a few dollars toward gas, accommodations that may need made and to put toward getting my Lars back, we would be eternally grateful!
Thank you for all the coveted thoughts and prayers, we know work, and that with our faith and support, "Smiley" (as my entire family has called him his whole life) will have a chance to survive and thrive...and, this can become a past experience in which we can use to advocate for, guide others and share the love we have been on the receiving end of through this otherwise horrible infliction and situation, that we trust we will ultimately be able to use for His glory!
