Story

Help Give Lars the Farewell He Deserves Hi, my name is Dawn, and I’m Lars’s mum. On May 11th, 2025, my beautiful son Lars was suddenly taken from us at just 18 years old. What started as a simple case of nausea quickly turned into a heartbreaking tragedy. We were told it was likely a stomach bug. But within days, Lars lost significant weight, and his condition worsened rapidly. When we finally got him to the hospital, doctors discovered his white blood cell count was dangerously high, indicating late-stage leukaemia. Just hours later, he suffered a cardiac arrest. I arrived as they were performing CPR. I knew in my heart he was already gone, but they kept trying. No parent should ever have to tell doctors to stop resuscitating their child. Lars was more than my son—he was my world. He was a kind, caring soul who always put others before himself. He looked out for people being bullied, even when he had his own struggles. He loved joining gatherings and always tried to make others feel included and loved. At the time of his passing, Lars had just enrolled in a course through Pathways. We had filled out all the paperwork to apply for government support, but tragically, he never got the chance to submit it. He had no savings, and the small amount left to him by his grandmother—who passed during COVID—wasn’t enough to cover funeral costs. I wasn’t prepared to outlive my child. Like many parents, I didn’t take out life insurance. Because he was over 18, he also doesn’t qualify for government funeral assistance. That’s why I’m reaching out for help. How Your Donation Will Help: Funeral costs – to give Lars the beautiful send-off he deserves Memorial caravan – we want to turn his caravan into a peaceful space where loved ones can remember him 10% of all funds will be donated to a leukaemia research charity in Lars’s name After waiting for the post-mortem and coroner findings, we are finally able to begin planning his funeral. We are asking for your help to ease the financial burden during this devastating time and to honour Lars in the way he deserves. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference. Help Give Lars the Farewell He Deserves

Hi, my name is Dawn, and I’m Lars’s mum.
