6/28/25 Update as of 15 hours ago from his wife, Melissa. Keep those prayers coming. Thanks to all.
Wednesday night I took Larry back to ER. After CT scans they sent us to UT. Yesterday they did surgery and admitted him. Today therapy came in and he got up without bearing weight on his left leg using a walker. The surgeon assistant came in and talked to us. She said that he CAN go home later today! He will go back in 2 weeks to get stitches removed and to have x rays again. He will be non weight bearing for 6 more weeks. Thank you everyone for the prayers.
6/26/2025 Update everyone, a little set back for Larry, he has an ACETUBULAR INTRA-ARTICULAR fracture. He went through surgery today but will be discharged Saturday morning. Keep the prayers coming and if you can't donate, we understand but please share. Thank you.
Hello everyone, my name is Shannon Cockerham and my husband, Jeremiah, and I have been Tennessee residents for 12+ years now. We met Larry and Melissa Cutshaw through social media and they have been doing our pool maintenance for a couple of years now. That is the only communication we have with each other, however we have felt we need to get the word out for some help for this awesome couple. Larry Cutshaw is a nine year self employed owner of a local small pool company here in East Tennessee. That is his only source of income. He doesn't have health insurance at all and couldn't afford to pay over $500 a month plus high deductibles, etc. With that being said he hasn't been to a doctor in almost 12 years except to ER for stitches. He has been having health issues for a while as most stubborn men do. In March 2025 he ended up in the ER at UT hospital in Knoxville. After lots of bloodwork, xrays, urine samples, and a CT scan the doctor finally came in with the diagnosis. What brought him to the ER was a kidney stone that he was passing , BUT the doctor said that wasn't his biggest problem. He proceeded to tell him that according to everything that he is in decompensated liver failure, his spleen is 2-3x larger than it should be, his pancreas has cyst all over (could be cancer or just fluid sacs but he is too high risk to open up), he has portal hypertension (not to be confused with high blood pressure), he has ascities (fluid build up). He was given ONE to TWO years max to live. This news devastated him, his wife, and son as he is only in his FOURTIES! He decided that he was going to work the rest of the summer as long as he was able to. Fast forward to May 2025 when he would have a bad fall and get hurt. Due to no insurance once again he wouldn't go to ER. He is very stubborn and thought he would be ok. The next morning his wife called an ambulance to load him up and she took him to ER. They only did xrays and said from what they could see that his hip/upper leg wasn't broken and his degenerative disc disease on his back was worse. They put him on crutches and meds. The Dr said he should be fine in 3-4 days that without CT scan or MRI that he thought it was deep muscle pain or ligaments. Here it is 3 weeks later and he is still not able to walk without crutches and in pain. He should go back but he is stubborn as mentioned before and no insurance. Without him able to work it has put a strain on the business. The wife has no choice but to work when she should be at home spending precious time with her husband. Family is trying to do what they can to try to stay afloat. I know they will NOT ask for help or pity that's why I'm doing this for him and his family. His wife has a low monthly income so this has put a lot on them. Their son has had a vacation planned for them for some time now. I would like for them to be able to enjoy their trip if he's able, go places while there, and make memories as well as pay home and medical necessities. If you can help them in anyway please donate. Any amount is better than none. Please share this as well. If you can't afford to donate just please keep them in your prayers. His wife also has a Venom and PayPal account if you would rather send donations to it just do it as friends/family please. Thank you so much.
