Larry’s birthday miracle !

Larry lay is our step dad and has been since we were old enough to remember. Him and my mom are still so annoyingly in love. Last year he was diagnosed with cirrhosis and him and our mom immediately turned their life around. They had to make a huge lifestyle change. One that is extremely hard to do, but they did it and they did it fast! Within six months he had done everything that was required of him and was on the liver transplant list! There was some hard months, months where we were unsure of how he was doing physically or mentally, but he is the strongest person we know. We had faith. Today is his birthday. April 19th and last night he went into surgery with a team of doctors and nurses singing him happy birthday because our best friend, Shawn Bailey and his amazing loving and life saving family donated Shawns liver. Shawn has been in our lives even longer than Larry has. He’s been a rock for Teisha for many years and was always there. Unfortunately, we lost Shawn due to a heart attack. In those moments of loss, hurt and confusion, came a birthday miracle no one expected. Through the sad tears came tears of joy and thankfulness. We could never repay Shawn and his family for saving so many lives donating his organs, but today we thank him and his family for saving our dads. Larry is now out of surgery and doing great! Unfortunately due to Coronavirus we are not allowed to be there with him. My mom cannot work during this time to keep him safe and from any infection and his disability is just not enough in our opinion. We know they would probably not even know how to accept random money, but we want them to not worry about it and be able to heal in peace. We don’t know anyone more hardworking and deserving of this.
