Larry Duncan Memorial Event

Tax deductible
Larry Duncan and the TV show he co-founded, Labor Beat, has meant  so much to the labor movement in the US. His death on April 14, 2018 has left an unfillable space in labor journalism and in our hearts.

Over the years, Larry's leadership helped create the longest-running show of its kind, telling the story of the common working person's struggles in over 790 episodes.

Larry's legacy of working class journalism ranks up there with Studs Terkel. We want to put on a big "Celebration of Life" event August 4, 2018 in Chicago to honor the man and the strong ideals he held.

His comrades, friends, and family have reserved the new Chicago Teachers Union Hall for August 4, 2018 so we may share memories, speeches, and videos and continue this legacy of advocating for everyday workers and their battles for fairness and justice.

We need donations to pay for catering and other expenses. We are checking availability with labor singers, so we can hear the rebellious music of struggle Larry loved so dearly.

With a contribution from you, hundreds can come together, raise and glass and share their recollections of a man who told the stories of the Salt of the Earth.

Money raised for this event to honor Larry Duncan of Labor Beat goes through the non-profit (501c3) Committee For Labor Access, producers of Labor Beat and Labor Express. Your donations are tax deductible and our IRS EIN is 36-3368030.  Funds raised in excess of costs will be donated to support the labor video and radio journalism that was the focus of Larry's life.

Donations can be made here on GoFundMe, or through our PayPal account at www.laborbeat.org, or by mailing a check to: Labor Beat, 37 S. Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL 60607attn: Duncan Memorial
