Chris Pulver has worked for years to better the lives of the pets and humans around her. She has run a Newfoundland rescue group for decades, dedicating her time to finding forever homes for as many dogs as possible. She ran Icy Hollow Kennel, giving a comfortable space for pets to stay while their owners were away. Chris has taken pets into her home while their owners are ill and given a temporary home to dogs who were displaced after Hurricane Sandy. She is the author of "The Best Friends I Have Were Brought to Me by My Dogs" and hopes to write another novel in the future.

Her husband Larry is ill and out of work and they are struggling to make ends meet. One of her Newfies, Luna, is in need of a special brace that will allow Chris to help her stand up and increase her mobility. The financial stress has forced the Pulver family to close their rescue and move out of the state.
