The Denzel Family is raising funds in the name of Lawrence "Zelmo" Denzel on behalf of the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena at Eureka College. A section  at the Arena will be named in honor of Larry. A plaque will be placed along with a photo and a list of his accomplishments and achievements on the court as a member of the Eureka College Mens' Basketball Team. 

Larry grew up in Chicago and attended Weber high school, where he excelled in sports, especially basketball, football and track.  He continued his education and his love of sports with an athletic scholarship at Eureka College where he played basketball, football and track and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was such a skilled basketball shooter, that he practiced and tried out with the Chicago Bulls for an off-season after college. As an alumnus, he gave his time to coaching in the summer at Dave Darnell’s Basketball camp, where his sons and many young athletes were mentored and guided by him.

The goal is to raise funds for next year's alumni game, where the Denzel Family will be in attendance and present the donation on his behalf so his legacy will always be ingrained in the Eureka College Men's Basketball Program and Coach Dave Darnell. "TOGETHER WE WIN!"
