As a fellow horseman and long-time friend of Larry Westmoreland, I would like to share his story with you and ask that you consider donating to help him in his time of need. In addition to be an accomplished horse trainer, mentor, and coach to so many horseman all over the country for over 50 years, Larry is a former police officer who served the people of Louisiana for over 18 years. This brave Christian cowboy is also a generous and loving humanitarian who has stepped up to coordinate relief efforts for others in their time of need on various occasions…It is now our turn to help support him in this battle…Here is his story…From Larry...
A couple of weeks ago I asked for prayers as I was about to undergo a couple of medical procedures. Unfortunately, those procedures turned up some not so good results. Actually, it was devastating news. I have advanced Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma that has metastasized to three spots on my liver. The lymph nodes are involved as well.
I want you all to know that God has given me peace in the midst of all this chaos.
As most of you know, horses have been our way of life for quite some time. I thank God for all of the wonderful friends and clients we have made along the way. There are so many wonderful memories we have all shared.
This wonderful journey started with college rodeo in the NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) in the early 70's. From there I moved to the AQHA showing reined cow horses.
In 1985, I was introduced to the beautiful and talented Arabian horse and had a successful show career showing Arabian Cutters and Cow Horses. This breed welcomed us with open arms. I have been blessed to ride some outstanding Arabian horses to National and Reserve National titles.
The state of the economy caused us to spread our wings again. Our facility is now also home to some World and Reserve World Champion Paints and Quarter Horses in Cutting, Reined Cow Horse, and Ranch horse classes.
Being a part of bringing an NRCHA affiliate club, the Southern Reined Cow Alliance, to Louisiana is also something that I am grateful and proud to be a part of over the last three years.
I pursued my NRCHA judges card and obtained that card. Last year I was awarded my level 2A NRCHA judges card. This past year I was given the amazing opportunity to judge the U.S. Arabian Nationals in Tulsa!
I know this has been an extremely long post, but I wanted to say personally to each and every one of you that helped me along the way...Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will continue to fight, live, and "ride my ride" until the Lord takes me home.
Just a thought for you....
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
I love you all, so don't be strangers
