Larry Roberts

Hi my name is Leah & I married Larry in 1984. We had two wonderful sons, Nick & Carl. We both worked hard in order to buy our home & we lived in & around Basingstoke for many years.

In 2013 we sold up & moved to Spain & purchased a lovely villa with a pool.

Unfortunately it didn't work out & we returned to the UK in 2015.

By then my health deteriorated, particularly my mobility & i could no longer work.

Larry was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in February 2024. He was one of the lucky ones as he was able to have surgery, which he had. Since last June he has had lots of medical issues & didn't feel that he was progressing with his recovery. Him, being the sole earner meant we couldn't live properly whilst he recovered. Although Universal Credit helped, we struggled until he returned to work in December 2024. In January 2025 he started having problems with swallowing his food again. The hospital performed an endoscopy to try to stretch his new oesophagus but the doctor was unable to do it because he found what he thought were ulcers. He took biopsies & we had to wait a further 2 weeks for the results. Unfortunately, the news wasn't good, his cancer had returned.

Last Sunday he had a CT scan & on Thursday we had an appt with his oncologist. Worse than expected, Larry has Terminal Cancer as it has spread to his abdomen. He has 3 - 4 mths to Live without chemo or up to 1 year with chemo.

I'm not asking for myself, but would appreciate any funds to put towards his funeral expenses. Every day he seems to deteriorate, he's more tired & I'm scared that he will pass sooner rather than later.
