Hi, my name is Louise and I’m raising funds towards a pacemaker for my cat, Larry. Larry is desperately poorly and will die soon if not treated. The operation can be performed by JSVC Hospital as soon as next week.

I adopted Larry (and his dad, Frankie) from Safecats Rescue, Warrington, in June 2025. Both boys had been part of a feral colony dangerously situated at a service station on the M6 motorway.

When I adopted them, they had been at the rescue for over two years without any interest. This broke my heart. Larry experienced a tough start in life and was extremely anxious after the adoption. He’d never been in a home before and found everything from the stairs, tv and doorbell scary. I’m an experienced cat owner, but the challenge of adopting an ex feral cat was quite different. Due to anxiety, Larry would excessively over-groom and needed to wear a little cotton suit for the first few months. I had a catio built to keep the boys’ safe. I’m so pleased to say that Larry eventually settled and had been loving life, until recently.

At the age of four, Larry has been diagnosed with third degree AV block (his heart isn’t firing correctly). The options are not good - sudden death or a pacemaker. The £2000 per condition insurance limit has been reached by seeing the cardiologist and wearing an ecg holter for twenty four hours. The quote for a pacemaker is £4,800. Additional annual costs of around £2,000 would then incur. I’m looking for support for his operation.

Larry has been through too much to die young. For the first time in his life, he has a home and a family who love him. His personality is amazing and he follows me like a little shadow. Sadly, the zoomies have now stopped and Larry is tired and has begun to regularly collapse. These incidents are scary to watch as he loses control of his body. Every time, I fear sudden death. A pacemaker would completely transform his life.
