Educating future engineers was one of the most important ways that Wall Township's Larry French could think of to pay it forward. As an educator and licensed Professional Engineer for over half of a century, Larry did all he could to help those who wanted to work in the field he so deeply loved.
Laurence Eugene French, 78, died Thursday, May 6, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
To honor his life and his work, his family is creating a scholarship fund for seniors at Wall Township High School who plan to pursue engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
At the time of his passing, Larry was the Chairman of the Board of French & Parrello Associates, a multi-discipline consulting and engineering firm that he founded. He poured his heart and soul into every project the firm tackled for 47 years.
Larry's connection to Wall Township High School goes back many decades. He was part of Wall High School's first graduating class and delivered the commencement speech in 1961. He was president of the student council, played varsity football and baseball and was president of the National Honor Society.
He then attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology, on scholarship, where he earned a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. Larry also taught at the college from 1967 to 1971.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joanne, four children and 11 grandchildren.
Thank you for helping us to continue his legacy of education, community and philanthropy through the Larry French Scholarship Fund.
