My name is Haevyn, granddaughter of Larry & Delois Risley. We are raising funds for my grandparents whose home and land was destroyed by the Canadian River Bottom Wildfire.
Tuesday, March 29th 2022. This incredibly discouraging day is one that will not be forgotten by the panhandle, Canadian Texas, and more specifically at 8:58pm…Larry and DeLois Risley.
On Tuesday, around 2pm, A wildfire was reported in Hemphill County. A fire that would later sweep across multiple counties, a fire that would destroy thousands of acres, a fire that would kill livestock, a fire that ran its course for 25 hours, and a fire that would completely consume the home of the Canadian loving, Wildcat supporting and ranching individuals, Larry and DeLois Risley. Larry and DeLois have lived in Canadian all of their lives. Most folks know them by their compassionate approach, warm conversations or their support and love they have for the community of Canadian. If you have not met them, you might have unknowingly passed them while getting a coke at the Alexander’s Deli, cheering on any Wildcat or Ladycat sporting event throughout the state, or stopping by Canadian AH&N to gather some feed for your cattle or other livestock. The love they have for the community is immeasurable. It is a love that has existed for years and seen throughout their years of service.
As a fellow Texan, rancher, Canadian resident or those with a servant heart, we are asking that we all come together during this troubling and disheartening time in order to help and assist the Risley family. Any proceeds or help to rebuild their home would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
