My name is Larry Daoust, and I am a 66-year-old powerlifting competitor in the Classic Men’s Masters 3 Bench Only division, preparing for the 2026 Canadian Nationals.
I may have started this journey later than most — my very first competition was in April 2025 — but I’ve proven that it’s never too late to chase something meaningful.
Since stepping onto that first platform, I’ve worked relentlessly to grow, to learn, and to represent my province with pride. Along the way, I’ve been honoured to become the current Bench Press Record Holder in both:
• British Columbia Powerlifting Association (BCPA)
• Canada Powerlifting (CanPL)
These records are meaningful milestones, but they are not the finish line — they are simply the spark that keeps this journey alive.
At 66, I’m proving that strength doesn’t fade with age — it evolves.
Goals don’t disappear as we grow older; they become clearer, deeper, and more important.
To compete at Nationals, I will be traveling from Kamloops, BC to St. John’s, Newfoundland, covering thousands of kilometers to step onto the national platform. This is a journey of dedication, planning, and commitment — and every step is part of the dream.
I understand there are many important causes in the world, and I respect everyone who chooses to give their time or support where it’s needed most. If you’ve arrived at my page, thank you — even reading my story means more than you know.
This page is about supporting a Masters athlete who continues to push, strive, and believe — with humility, passion, and gratitude.
There’s a saying that guides me:
“If you dig in your pocket to find time… you won’t come up with a dime.”
We don’t find time — we make it.
And I’ve made the time, at this stage of life, to give everything I have to this journey.
Your support helps cover the real costs of competing at Nationals: travel, hotel, entry fees, training, and recovery — everything needed to step confidently onto the platform. Athletes at this level pay out of pocket, and any contribution, big or small, truly helps me continue pursuing this dream and representing my province and my country with pride.
