We're raising money to help Larry and Tony keep feeding people in North St. Louis City impacted by the tornado.
Larry and Tony's lives were spared in the tornado despite close calls with the storm. When they looked around the neighborhood, they could see the devastation all around them. Houses destroyed. Bricks in the street. An overturned tractor trailer not far from them. Now, months after the storm, Larry still doesn't have power in his home.
Despite all of that, Larry has been out at the corner of Ashland and Newstead every day since the tornado struck on May 16. With the help of Tony and a few others, he has cooked for families, collected donations, and done so much to bring some positivity to a place that very much needs it.
Larry's biggest need is fuel. It costs about $30 per day to keep the generator going so the food doesn't spoil. The $1,000 we are trying to raise will keep the power on for a little over a month. Anything more we raise will be used to get supplies for the corner, including fuel to last the rest of the year, and provide relief for families in North St. Louis, including supporting organizations like 100 Roofs still doing important work to try to save homes.
The money donated to the fundraiser is being used by the organizers to purchase gas cards to fuel the generators at the site and buy supplies for the food corner, both of which are dropped off directly to Larry and other volunteers on site. All purchases are documented via receipts and photographs. Thank you for your support!
