My son Eddie & daughter-in-law Teale have faced challenge after challenge for over a decade. It seems like as soon as they are doing well, life throws a challenge their way. They have had more challenges than many have in a lifetime. Eddie's health has been a struggle that has taken a toll on them mentally, physically, and especially financially. He has had over 20 surgeries, for various medical reasons over the last decade--6 knee surgeries, a double osteotomy, a cervical spinal fusion, emergency surgery for a 3” clot in his ulnar artery, and surgeries related to life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis, just to name a few. During a lot of this time, Eddie has been unable to work, and Teale has consistently held two jobs to try to make end's meet.
Earlier this month, Eddie faced another injury with his knee. It's unclear if he will need another surgery at this point or not, but he is currently battling a very painful cellulitis infection in his knee joint. Due to his physical limitations right now, he is unable to work and does not get paid time off. They have applied for unemployment for the time being, but of course have to wait for that to process. They currently pay nearly $700/month on medical expenses alone, prior to this injury, and that expected monthly payment will rise due to the 10+ appointments/ER visits/tests he's had (so far) related to this injury. They expect that their medical expenses will likely be at least $1000/month until everything is paid. Despite having insurance, they have to pay out about $10,000 annually on medical expenses.
If you feel compelled to help them out with their medical expenses, I know they would greatly appreciate it. They both would do anything in their power to help others in need, even if that's meant doing without themselves; and right now I'm hoping we can rally around them and support them with some financial help to ease their stress. Thank you all!
