Larkin Hill Horse Trials Preliminary XC Course

So! In terms of building the remaining Prelim jumps we are ALMOST there! So many Thanks to everyone who has supported and donated to getting our Prelim course completed! We only need 6 more! We all know that lumber prices have skyrocketed lately, and we are trying to be as imaginative as possible with natural and other materials.
However, as is the plight of many privately owned lower level Horse Trials, we struggle with the numbers, be it dollars and/or riders. Such is the case with Larkin Hill Preliminary Level. Our hope was that “If we build it they will come!” Well, we have (nearly) built it, but sadly, not so many are coming L We will continue to work with Calendar Scheduling and competitor input to try and get the numbers that will justify the time and expense of offering this level. Just one class of 15 to 20 rides would make us happy!
As an added incentive to Preliminary riders, we have some generous supporters putting together some PRIZE MONEY to offer at our Oct. 3 Horse Trial! However, if we don’t have a class of at least 12 by the week after Closing Date, we will NOT RUN THE LEVEL, and money will go towards other Sponsorships. We will also have a new Prize for our “More Mature”(read: older!) Riders at the Beginner Novice Level!

Speaking of Calendar Scheduling, a reminder if you haven’t seen it online, we moved our September Horse Trials to OCT. 3 THIS fall. Reason: Kent School has cancelled on Oct. 10. Hitching Post offers Prelim and Modified on Oct. 9. There is not another Area I Horse Trials on the 3rd, so it will take Larkin Hill off UNH weekend, which should help both of us, as well as hopefully help Hitching Post.
Looking forward to seeing many of you here on October 3!
