Some of you know this story. Some of you don't. My name is Larissa. I have a beautiful daughter and a wonderful partner. I am an artist, a writer, a jewelry-maker, and Krav Maga enthusiast. I also have stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
According to Western Medicine, there is no cure for me. According to me, there is one and I'm fighting to find it. As of this writing, my daughter is five years old (just a week and a half shy, actually) and I know that I must be the one to raise her. There is no other choice.
I am presently on Social Security, which is very limited and there are many financial hardships that come with this type of illness. Bills are continuously piling up and some other unforseen issues such as a near-fatal car accident and my lovely Jesse losing his job for taking the time to care for me, have created money obstacles that we were not prepared for. I am also in pursuit of alternative treatments and lifestyle changes that my budget often does not allow for. One example is all the dental work I need before I can go on the bone strengthening medication my oncologist wants me on (yes the cancer is in my bones, too). Other things include the deposits I will need to transfer to an apartment that is better for my health, or the dietary changes I'm making to prolong my life whilst I seek my cure. There are a couple of healing retreats I am also wanting to attend. Whatever I have to do to raise my girl, I will do.
I have placed the limit at $50,000 knowing that it's a tall order. I might not need that much, I might need more. So many things come up so frequently. As it is, I am worried about keeping the power and gas services on. Jesse and I are doing everything we can to stay afloat. I am a fighter through and through, but even fighters need an army sometimes. So today, I'm calling on that army. For more about me personally, I do have a blog that I don't keep up on as often as I'd like, but it is part of my journey and who I am.
Please share this page. Anything and everything helps. Some days I am still strong enough to do my Krav Maga and on others, I can't even do the dishes. It's a crazy ride and the hospital sometimes feels like a second home. Even on the days when I look or feel great, cancer is still lurking. I am in the fight of my life for my life and I will never back down. At the end of the day, this is for Violet, my beautiful baby. I will win this...for her.
