Our friend Larissa Cleveland has been in the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital since August 3rd. Prior to her admittance to Anschutz she was admitted to UC Health Greeley, along with multiple visits to other ERs. She was initially admitted to the ATU at Anschutz thinking this was an autoimmune disease (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis) which severly affects the liver. Although we still don't have a formal diagnosis this will likely be something Larissa will have to continue to manage the rest of her life. There have been several amazing teams of Doctors working endlessly (Hepatology, Hematology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, and Cardiology among others). We are hoping she can work on getting better and lead a normal life again with her 7-year-old son Nayan (who is her entire world).
As of current Larissa has undergone numerous procedures, CT scans, MRIs, x-ray, ultrasound, and also underwent liver and lymph biopsies. A stent was also placed during the biopsies to help open up her biliary tract.
If you're reading this I am sure Larissa has made an impact and been a bright light in your life, and if you don't know her personally... Let's start by saying she has the most beautiful soul and the most generous heart. While it's not easy to ask for help, easing the financial burden for Larissa will allow her to focus on healing during this medical hardship.
Even if you are not able to donate, please share and continue to keep Larissa and her family in your thoughts and prayers. All donations will help with medical bills, ongoing care, and current living expenses.
Thank You for your support, love, thoughtfulness, and compassion and Thank You for helping our friend. We will continue to provide updates as more information is received.
With Love,
Nichole King and Jennifer Hernandez (friends of Larissa Cleveland)
Update 8/17/2023:
Larissa has been home for a officially a week now since being hospitalized in the ATU. While things have still been hard and there are still a lot of unknowns, she was able to at least see her son Nayan off for the first day of school. She is currently being medicated for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) but still waiting on results from the liver and lymph biopsies along with a formal diagnosis and continued path of treatment/management.
She has an upcoming X-ray scheduled to look at the stent that was placed in her pancreatic duct during the biopsy procedure, and has upcoming appointments scheduled with her Hepatologist and the Transplant Team back at Anschutz next week.
Words cannot even begin to explain the gratitude we have for the tremendous outpour of love and continuing support for Larissa. She would also like everyone to know how truly appreciative and grateful she is and that she's working to heal and get to a point where she can take the time to reach out to everyone individually.
Thank You all so very much.
