My name is Gretchen Boisseau, the sister of Lara Eggiman. I am reaching out to family and friends for a request for financial support for the Eggiman family.
Lara is a devoted wife to Mike, mum to Keeley (19) and Noah (15), and a Registered Massage Therapist, who has spent her life caring for others. Now she needs our love and support as she navigates Breast Cancer.
In June 2025, Lara was diagnosed with triple-positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) after a routine mammogram. Triple positive refers to being estrogen and progesterone positive and HER2 positive, which unfortunately means a longer treatment period. Finally, after almost four difficult months of waiting, Lara is scheduled for her oncoplastic breast surgery and sentinel node biopsy on September 24th. This will be followed by treatments to be confirmed by the oncologist later.
Cancer treatment and recovery take a toll physically, psychologically, and financially. As a self-employed massage therapist, Lara does not qualify for EI sickness benefits, and unfortunately, a past illness with Lyme disease prevented her from securing private disability insurance. That means while she undergoes months and months of treatment and recovery, she will have no income.
Lara has spent almost twenty years as an RMT treating members of the cancer community, as she is specifically trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). Now, as Lara has become a member of this same community she has compassionately treated, and she needs our help.
Due to this unexpected medical leave, their family faces significant financial strain, with the loss of over half their household income. Consequently, it will be difficult to cover everyday essentials such as groceries, mortgage, utilities and transportation costs. We are reaching out to our circle of love and community to help lift this burden so Lara can focus on treatment ahead, healing, and spending time with her family.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference to the family over the next year.
