Lara: A Debut Narrative Film by Marwan Ramen

Hi! My name is Marwan Ramen, and I am fundraising for my debut narrative short film - Lara. Lara follows Oliver as he attempts to date again, but he is haunted by the ghost of his ex. I've completed many projects at NYU, but this is my first ever narrative! I'm big on creating holistically creative works, and this would be the culmination of all the things I've learned in music, filmmaking, and photography at NYU. The film will explore themes near and dear to my heart, of miscommunication in love and moving on from trauma.

 

I am a multi-hyphenate artist that loves aesthetics and good storytelling. I am a screen-scoring major at NYU but have extensively expanded into filmmaking and photography. I aim to create interdisciplinary works that stretch medium and genres, and this project is among them! I will be directing, writing, and scoring this film and have gathered a fantastic crew of some of the best creative minds at NYU to fulfill this holistic vision. First, however, I need your help to fund this project!

 

The funds will primarily go towards location costs. New York is a crowded city, and it can be expensive to find suitable spaces to shoot. I am delighted with the locations I have found for this project, but I will need to compensate the owners for their time and space suitably! The funds will also go towards feeding my cast and crew. I have found that a crew performs best when its needs are supported, and everyone is well provided. The funds would also go towards production design, transport, and more. As an incentive, a donation of any amount above 10 dollars will also get your name in the credits of the film! The film’s $1800 goal is our minimal viable budget with some contingency, but any money fundraised above that goal improves our production design, payments for post production, the quality of our equipment rentals, and more!

This project is incredibly important to me, and I will be so grateful for any support in helping me achieve one of my dreams of directing a narrative film. I am shooting the weekend of April 16-17, so I am setting a deadline of April 21 for these funds. Following April 21th, I will update this page on where the funds went.
