ORIGINAL POST: August 10th 2025
Asking for help is the last thing I ever want to do. But right now, I have no choice. My wife LaQuesha has been in the ICU for the past 15 days (July 25th). And our world has turned upside down.
She came down with what seemed like a common cold. At first we tried some home remedies. The next night she told me her toes and fingers were tingling. By morning, the weakness had spread to her arms and legs so we went to the ER. They ran some tests, gave her medication, and sent her home.
The next morning, she could barely walk and was extremely fatigued. I took her back to ER and they ran more tests, gave her more medication and sent us home again. Two days later, in the middle of the night she fell trying to get to the bathroom. That third trip to the ER I demanded they admit her.
After some more serious tests they finally got an answer: Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Its a very rare and serious condition where the immune system attacks the nerves causing paralysis and respiratory failure. Recovery usually takes months to years.
LaQuesha is currently completely paralyzed. She couldn’t breathe on her own for 10 days. Then a tracheotomy was done so she can get air without choking. Now they're letting her breathe on her own for just an hour at a time to slowly build her lung strength. At the time of this writing (August 10th, 2025) we are still in the ICU and the bills just keep stacking up.
Obviously I can’t work right now. I’m caring for Arielle, the house, the dog and spending every possible moment at the hospital. Im being told MONTHS of recovery before she can even walk. Maybe years till she’s fully back.
We are so grateful for her sisters who have shown up with love and support, and for the relatives who’ve visited, prayed, and encouraged us. Just everyone who’s been kind and generous especially helping shelter Arielle from all of this.
Literally praying for a miracle rn. If you want to stay up to date, I'm going to post updates on this Facebook page, heres a link: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1GUHL6htWp/
If you’re able, please consider giving. Every contribution helps us keep going while LaQuesha fights her way back. And please keep us in your prayers. I pray your generosity is repaid 100x!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
