Hi, My name is Tony Chinweze, I’m the founder of LM Tech Hub, a social enterprise that provides tech training boot camp in Nigeria. As a social enterprise, we are committed to using our skills and limited financial resources to support as many young people as possible in achieving their goals and realising their potential.

We are reaching out to formally request your donations of both new and unwanted laptops to enable our students to learn vital coding skills. In addition, we are seeking funding to help us turn a derelict hall into a training room to cater to the rising demand for places in the boot camp.

LM Tech Hub started in August 2022, with a primary objective to provide quality 6-month training in Software Engineering to 100 pre-qualified students over a 12-month period. The hub is committed to running 2 successive cohorts on a 6 monthly basis.

The coding boot camp training is free of charge for fresh University graduates and unemployed youths that have met our 3-stage interview process. From the experience we have gathered so far, the lack of fit-for-purpose laptops remains one of the biggest challenges faced by our students. This constitutes a barrier to learning and therefore a major limiting factor to achieving their dreams and aspirations. The provision of laptops will also put paid to the frustration and feeling of inadequacy a person in such situation may feel. Our target is to secure at least 50 laptops - new and used ones in good working condition as well. The donation could be laptops (UK and Nigeria delivery addresses available), or cash donations towards buying the laptops locally in Nigeria. We specify laptops with a minimum of i5 and at least 4 GB of ram.

Our mission is to provide in-demand tech skills to the youths regardless of gender, religion or tribe. Empowering the youths with the right tech skills will improve their employability, increase their earning capacity and help them contribute to the development of their immediate community and the overall social and economic development in the state and country.

We are currently running a combination of online learning and in-class tutoring in the following areas:

- Frontend Development

- Backend Development

- Product design

- Data Science with Python

Amazingly, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of students interested in LM Tech Hub coding boot camp programme. The predominantly in-class learning is hugely supported by the amenities at the hub such as internet services and regular power supply.

Expectedly, the increase in the number of prospective students and our sustainability planning has resulted in an urgent need for expansion in both the Hub training space and other facilities. We have therefore secured another hall within the building, which needs to be refurbished and converted into a training room. This requires extensive work – changing the ceiling, painting the walls, replacing the existing aged and cracked floor tiles, new tables and chairs, electrical works, plumbing works, replacing windows and doors, increasing internet bandwidth and soundproofing to reduce noise from the street as the hub is located next to a typical busy street in Nigeria.

All donations received will go directly into the provision of computer laptops and the refurbishment of the classroom.
