Laptops to change lives in remote villages
Donation protected
Children of Regions is a network based organization in Armenia that is helping young people, particularly those born and living in underprivileged areas to remove all barriers to being successful and reaching their ambition via non-formal education and tools.
Young people attend remote programmes on uber modern professions that are in high demand, from 3D modeling to programming, graphic design, social media management and beyond. The programmes are free of charge, run by volunteer mentors. By completion they are guaranteed work placement and employment. Often these young people start making more at an early age than any of their family or relatives have ever been able to, completely changing the discourse and opportunities in their own lives and in their communities.
One of the many success stories is Sharmagh Tonoyan (on the photo above) 17 years old, from Lusaghbyur village of Lori region.
She studies in the 12th grade. She joined the programme online in 2020 and in a very short time started to master a number of tools, such as:
Trello
Google docs
Google drive
Google forms
Canva.
PPC marketing and data management
She got a job with an Armenian lecturer from the USA through the programme. She assists in organizing the "Data Management and Collection" course. At the same time she gets acquainted with working with new tools, such as Qualtrics and Draw.io and continues her personal development. She makes above national average wage and more than most people in her village.
Any child and young person born in a far out place in a post war country affected by a lot of misfortune has a chance to build things , contribute to things of global value, regardless of where they are from, what their parents do and any other limitations.
All of this is possible today thanks to the internet and global knowledge. The one barrier stopping them is the lack of hardware. Many young people do not have laptops to get started.
We are raising funds to help the next batch of graduates of Children of Regions get access to the tools they need (simple laptops connected to the internet) in order to turn their lives around.
Any contribution has real life-changing potential. Moreover, the goal is to spread and provide access to over 15% of the young people in post war Armenia, including soldiers and veterans in the next two years.
All receipts and deliveries to the recipients will be shared and documented.
