Laptops for homeschool - St George's Camberwell

Donation protected
UPDATE: We've reached our target but we'd welcome further donations. All additional monies raised will go towards supporting other homeschool costs like stationary, data, dongles, headphones - it will help us make even more of a difference to our community and incredible kids.

I am the Secretary of the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) of St Georges Church of England Primary school in Camberwell and we are fundraising to support the school in tackling high levels of digital exclusion in our school community.

St George's is a single form entry primary school in SE London with pupils from Reception to Yr 6 - an incredible, diverse and caring community. The majority of pupils are now homeschooling due to the Coronavirus pandemic but the transition to online learning has brought huge challenges to our families. Only 30% of our pupils have access to a laptop at home. 57% of our pupils are Pupil Premium (Free School meals) and a further 15% have no recourse to public funds.

Our pupils are bright and dedicated but many of them, through no fault of their own, are currently effectively excluded from learning. The school is trying its utmost to tackle this.

Our goal is to make sure that every family has a laptop at home. St George's uses Google Classroom and G Suite. A Chromebook is the best device to access this as well as being cost effective. They cost around £200 each. We have received 20 from the Dept of Education (although the school applied for more) and have had a further 13 donated. We need 33 more to make sure every family has one and are now trying various charitable foundations and setting up this crowdfunder to allow private donations from parents, grandparents and any other supportive party. Any addition money raised will go towards buying data, dongles, stationary or other resources to support home learning.

Please give what you can - it will make a massive difference.

With deep gratitude,

St George's C of E PTA

Please note: Mr Andrew Rojas is Headteacher at St George's and the money is going directly to St George's bank account.
