Help Marcos Loya Create Art!

Marcos Loya is a Los Angeles based musician, composer and arranger best known for his appearance as the dashing, pony-tailed love interest and guitarist in Madonna's La Isla Bonita video. Marcos was also featured in Robert Rodriguez's film Once Upon a Time in Mexico. He has been in several groups over the many decades of his prolific career, arranging and composing numerous pieces, and playing on stages across the country. Marcos also dedicated his time and talent to bringing up new artists as an instructor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, as well as teaching privately. But, one of the works closest to his heart is the music he composed for the Octavio Solis play, La Posada Magica. This beautiful project is what cemented the friendship between Marcos, Denise Blasor (my co-producer/fundraiser) and me. The themes of La Posada Magica - hope, love & grace - brought to life by Marcos' soul-touching, heart-pumping, ethereal music, served to create an enduring family with the casts of several productions at South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa Mesa, CA. The show was a beloved tradition for many theater-goers over the years it was performed, always leaving the audience with a renewed sense of faith in their families and communities at large.
As you know, this year has been difficult for everyone, with the pandemic on the forefront of all our lives. It has been especially difficult on performers, Marcos included, with our livelihoods gone in the blink of an eye. Marcos would love to be able to create more projects which touch so many hearts, but with the shut-down of theaters, this has become more challenging. With everything moving to digital and online platforms, it is imperative to have adequate equipment in order to create content for this new world. In an effort to help him along the path of creating more art, we would like to present La Posada Magica as a live-streamed staged reading with original cast members to raise money to replace an old computer and other recording equipment for Marcos.
Our fundraiser is two-fold.
1)Your donation will assist us in paying for the location, live-streaming and recording of La Posada Magica, which be be performed live on Dec. 16th at the Campus Jax (Tickets at https://www.campusjax.com/) Covid-safe outdoor venue in Newport Beach, CA.
2) Your donation will help purchase the above-mentioned equipment so Marcos can finally record new music and do streaming performances, like so many other artists have been able to do to stay vital, and have an outlet for their passion.
All donors will receive an exclusive link to a documentary short about the making of La Posada Magica by filmmaker & cast member, Miguel Najera. In this season of giving, please consider donating to the creation of art which feeds the soul and creates a sense of hope. We could all use more hope these days.
