"Some of you may know I have had some health challenges the last couple of years; my kidney function has been slowly declining and I am at the point where I need treatment. My kidney function is now at 13% and I am being referred for a transplant. I will find out next week if I have to start dialysis in the meantime."

"My best chance is to find a living donor, which I am working on now. The screening process can take several months to a year so getting started as soon as possible is important. We will also need to relocate to Vancouver for approximately three months for the surgery and recovery. I have always been terrified of Vancouver (too big for me!) so this is quite daunting!"

"I am so amazed, grateful and humbled by the support we are receiving! We haven’t even started figuring how we are going to manage financially, as we are both going to have to be off work for a good length of time and I’m not sure if I will be able to continue working with kids as I’ll be on immune suppressing meds for the rest of my life."

Please Lanya's many friends help her. She's a really good person doing good work with children. I so much hope she can continue being who she is.
