Help Lantern Home Education build for the future
Donation protected
We are Jenny Thompson and Alice Lenagh-Davies. Together we run Lantern Home Education, a Waldorf inspired part-time home education setting in Stroud, for children aged 6 to 11 years. We are two experienced Steiner Waldorf teachers, who established Lantern in 2020, following the sudden closure of Wynstones Steiner School.
We offer a pathway to families who want an alternative to a full time mainstream model of education. Many families feel that the approach to teaching and learning within a mainstream setting is not appropriate or desired for their child. Children at Lantern enjoy a rich and active learning experience in a warm and caring environment that fosters imagination, creativity, exploration and independence. Academic rigour forms a strong foundation for all teaching and learning, whilst also being rooted in an understanding of child development and how that informs the child’s personal, social and educational wellbeing. Children are taken on a journey through language, literature and number, humanities, arts and crafts, drama, movement, music and natural sciences. Our tutors are qualified, experienced, hold full DBS certificates and attend regular CPD training.
We are looking to expand and develop our provision to enable us to offer more teaching groups. We firmly believe in offering an affordable alternative for families who want a genuine choice in educational provision. We are seeking funding and investment in support of these aims.
Areas that funding and investment would support are:
- Donations to our bursary support fund for families requiring financial assistance
- Funding towards additional resources
- Philanthropic investment in Lantern's future expansion as a provider of Waldorf-inspired education
- Donations towards a support fund for trips and excursions
If you wish to stipulate a percentage of your donation towards Lantern's longer term expansion, then please contact us via our website to inform us.
