It is with heavy hearts that we are writing this.
Lani’s fight with cancer has been a tough road that was looking pretty optimistic as treatments were helping and many of her tumors were shrinking.
However, in July, Lani had to get admitted to the ER for a fever, blurred vision, and dizziness. That’s when doctors ran tests that came back showing her cancer had spread to her brain and spine. Doctors said they could try radiation, but they weren’t optimistic with how rapidly her cancer was spreading. Still, Lani gave it a try until she couldn’t any longer.
We are reaching out to ask for as many prayers, thoughts, and love as we can get for Lani and, if at all possible, any monetary donations. As you can imagine, the bills have not stopped and further increased for the family since they have opened their home to all friends and family members wanting to see Lani and have been providing round-the-clock care for her. Anything helps, with everything going directly to Lani and her family.
Lani was moved into hospice care on July 30th at her brother Brendon’s house on Oahu. Brendon has completely opened his house to friends and family who would like to visit Lani. This generous gesture has allowed Lani to be surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones every day.
Our goal now is to make Lani as comfortable as possible and surround her with as much love as we possibly can while she is still with us.
Please share this update. Lani has touched so many lives, many of whom have moved off the island and may not be able to visit. Know that you can still send her messages as her family will read them to her. Or you are welcome to visit while Lani is still with us. If you would like to visit with Lani, please do not hesitate to reach out.
