Lani leg amputation and chemo

Donation protected
Lani girl has cancer in her leg and is likely going to have it amputated in order to keep it from spreading. It's currently isolated to her left back leg. She had an ultra sound today on her belly to make sure it hadn't spread and everything was negative, which is good news! We also had to get a biopsy of the mass in her knee. Today's vet visit was $1031. We have a consult with the surgeon on Wednesday, 11 January that the oncology vet set up. We will know more about exact pricing on Wednesday 11 January. We have to go to a different vet for the surgery, so they will also do their own exam of her leg and make sure we can amputate it with no issues. The chemo vet says dogs that get their leg amputated recover well and want to be active and run shortly after removal. Lani always has always loved to run and play in the waves at the beach, so I'm excited to be able to take her back.

Lani is already a one time cancer survivor. She had cancer in her mouth in 2020 and had chemo. She responded well to treatment with no relapse of the cancer in her mouth. She's a fighter!

Her leg amputation will cost $3,000+/- and 6 rounds of chemo will be around $3000-$4000+/-

My dogs are my whole world. Kiya, Lani's sister, had to have emergency surgery this year that cost about $15,000 including emergency visits, meds, etc. Kiya had tie back surgery. The flaps in her throat were paralyzed and she literally couldn't breath. Her tongue was turning blue. I raced her to the vet and they did surgery that day. On the drive home from the vet the surgery failed and I had to race her back. She under went surgery again on the other side of her throat. Kiya is recovering well. Kiya has caught pneumonia 3 times since surgery and needed x-rays to verify it was pneumonia and strong 4 weeks of medication to beat the pneumonia. Pneumonia is common in dogs that have the tie back surgery. Kiya is doing really well now. Prior to Kiya's emergency surgery she had surgery to remove a mass on her back that the vet thought might be cancer, but turned out to just be fatty tissue thank goodness.

It's been a financial strain, but one I was able to handle. I don't like to talk about the hardships in my life and prefer to handle things on my own and quietly. I've always had a hard time asking for help, but now with Lani's unexpected amputation and chemo I could use some support. Thank you for any type of donation.

In the pic Lani is on the left and Kiya is on the right.
