Laney May’s Miraculous Return to Dance
Donation protected
On June 13th, 2019, Laney May was involved in a tragic mishap in which she suffered a skull fracture, a severe brain bleed and traumatic brain injury. She was airlifted to Rockford where she spent 22 long days in the NeuroTrauma ICU. During that time she was placed in a medically induced coma and underwent multiple surgeries. Now she is in a rehabilitation hospital and ready to make her comeback and get back on the dance stage!
Although Laney was involved in a life changing accident, that isn’t what defines her. Laney May is a sweet girl with a fierce competive side that she loves to show off during dance competitions. She started dance class at age 5 and has continued dancing and competing all the way up until her hospital stay. She recently made her newly formed High School dance team for the 2019-2020 season and performed during the halftime show of the 2018 Outback Bowl. Laney has a hilarious sense of humor that will keep you in tears while she’s telling a story. She has a giant heart that will show you love like no other which is apparent in the love she shows her family, friends, her favorite dog Charley, and even complete strangers!
Laney is making progress every day but she will require several weeks of inpatient rehabilitation before transitioning to home. She will then continue to require weeks to months of therapy before one day returning to dance.
Due to her many surgeries, helicopter flight, ambulance ride and multiple therapies, Laney’s medical bills grow by the day. Any support is greatly appreciated.
Our family has received an outpouring of support and we are especially grateful for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We ask that you please donate as many pop tabs as possible to this wonderful organization if you are able.
