Lanette's Journey to Conquer MS

Donation protected
This page has been created to help my wife, Lanny, in her fight against MS. In 2017, Lanny was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS), a debilitating disease that affects the central nervous system. I am excited for the opportunity that this HSCT treatment gives to stop the progression of MS.

Lanny has always been a active person. When she was first diagnoses she was actively going to the gym, participating in various fitness classes, biking and skiing. She did every activity her heart desired, all while chasing two very active kids and fulfilling all the needs of their busy schedules. She is extremely thankful she is still able to do all these things, just at a different pace. Lanny's MS effects her whole family unit.

Right now her disease is invisible from the outside, but symptoms can appear out of nowhere and at anytime. One day everything seems stable and the next she has extreme fatigue, pain and numbness.

Due to the pandemic and a roller coaster of events Lanny was unable to go get this treatment as originally planned in 2020. It has remained our hope the entire time to get her there. In the meantime, we've done much more research into the treatment and talked with others who have gone through HSCT. We have been extremely thankful that during this time, Lanny has remained stable and in good health because of her strict regimen and active lifestyle. We know how crucial the timing of this procedure is, as every day could potentially bring drastic changes to her health.

Lanette has been booked for HSCT treatment in Mexico in August 2024. Thank you to everyone for your unwavering love and support.

Multiple Sclerosis is a potentially disabling disease of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves (central nervous system). With MS, the immune system attacks the protective myelin sheath that covers the nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage and/or deterioration of the nerves.

HSCT (Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation) is a 28 day, high dose chemotherapy treatment for MS. The aim of the HSCT treatment process is to stop the immune system from causing damage of the myelin, so that proper electrical conduction within the nervous system is restored. Regrowth of the immune system is done by harvesting and replanting your own stem cells. This treatment has shown a 80-85% success rate which is higher now then when she was originally scheduled to have the treatment.

What are the funds being used for? This treatment and related expenses come at a very high cost. The money we are hoping to raise covers: testing needed prior to treatment, the HSCT treatment, airfare and nursing/staff support.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We truly appreciate all of you and are forever grateful.
