LANE PHILLIPS - SPINAL CORD INJURY

Donation protected
Lane Phillips fell on September 2, 2014 resulting in a Spinal Cord Injury, which has devastated his life. Initially, he was mostly paralyzed from the neck down, and now he is recovering some movement, but lives in a wheelchair. He spent a week in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s in Lewiston, ID, then 7 weeks in St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Center in Spokane, WA. He has recently returned home and is trying to adapt to life in a wheel chair. He needs our help with medical equipment, equipment to assist in his mobility, transportation, medical treatment, and handicap remodeling in their home. His wife is now also in the role of 24-hour caretaker to help Lane in his daily functioning, so they are in need of some assistance in the home.

Lane has been a lifelong athlete, an active outdoor sportsman and an avid supporter of athletic programs, so this is a painful life adjustment for him. As a child he was a standout athlete in Clarkston, WA and Lewiston, ID. He was a pitcher in pro baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees organizations. A shoulder injury forced his retirement from baseball. He then coached college basketball at YVCC in Yakima, WA and was the pitching coach for the YVCC baseball team. Lane worked for several jetboat companies in Washington and California, and it was one of his greatest loves to take family and friends jetboating on the rivers for fishing and fun. He retired and moved back to Lewiston to be closer to family and friends. There he has been an avid supporter of all of the area sports teams, and was the greatest fan in attendance of his three children and grandchildren’s sports. Throughout his life the outdoors has been a passion for him. He loves to hunt, fish and be in nature. His high level of skill in his golf game led him to win many golf tournaments, including winning in his division 2 days before his Spinal Cord Injury, and placing third in a co-ed tournament the day before his injury. The morning he went out to get the newspaper to see the scores of the golf tournament he had just participated in, was when he fell and incurred the Spinal Cord Injury.

All of these life passions feel lost to Lane right now with the limitations from his Spinal Cord Injury. Your donations will help him in his recovery and therefore in finding his passion for living life again. Please donate what you can to help Lane.
