Lane's Fight for Sight!
Donation protected
Hi, I hope this message finds you well! My name is Alaina & this fundraiser is for my fiancé, Lane. If you know Lane, you know he is the most hard working & generous person around. He would (quite literally) give you the shirt off his back. Whether you know him or not-- Lane has worked hard for everything in his life. Convincing him to reach out for help was not an easy task! Back in November of 2019, Lane went in for a routine eye exam. During this exam, he was diagnosed with a genetic eye disease called keratoconus. This eye disease is progressive, meaning without treatment, it will continue to worsen. In simple terms, this disease is causing his eyes to form a cone shape-- the result is causing Lane to lose his sight. Without treatment, he would either need a corneal transplant or his overall vision would be lost. Thankfully, there is a new procedure that will stop the progression of the disease-- cross linking. It's a simple, non-invasive procedure that will prevent his vision from getting any worse! The good news is that we have met an ophthalmologist in Atlanta, GA who can perform this procedure! Not so good news: Lane has an out-of-pocket deductible of $5500. On top of that cost, Lane's insurance will only pay half of the costs. Between the deductible, remaining procedure costs, traveling to Atlanta, and missing an entire week of work-- we are looking at an approximate cost of $12,000. As two college graduates with a mountain of debt & high hopes of getting married soon, we aren't prepared to take on a loan of that caliber. That's where you come in! Of course, we are living in a pandemic and we have ALL been impacted by it (especially financially). Lane & I would be unimaginably grateful if you could donate to his cause. If you can't donate, we humbly ask if you wouldn't mind sharing his story! We are currently scheduled for surgery in November 2020. The longer we wait for this surgery, the worse Lane's eyes get. Know that your donation will save Lane's sight & forever change our lives! Thank you for reading this & God Bless!
