Lane Needs Our Help

Donation protected
Lane has been battling a medical emergency since mid July of this year. She has seen specialists with no relief and/or a diagnosis or cause for what she has been through. She continued to have lower Gastrointestinal bleeding. Lane's mother (Nicki) who is a Nurse Practitioner in New Mexico has been advocating for Lane from NM. On August 22nd, Lane went to the Emergency Department because she was not able to stand on her right leg. It was weak and she felt pins and needles in that leg. She was admitted and Nicki was trying to make her way as fast as she could to Lane to be with her. While speaking on the phone with Lane, Nicki had noticed that Lane started to make no sense. Nicki told Lane to hit the call button to get a nurse bedside to evaluate Lane. Three hours later, Nicki received a call from the nurse saying that Lane is being flown out to another facility that has specialized care. At this point, Lane was still making eye contact with the nurse and able to squeeze the nurses hand. Nicki was placed on speaker phone and was able to tell Lane that she loves her and that she was on her way to her.

On August 23rd, Lane had an MRI/MRV diagnostic study performed showing bleeding and clotting in the sagittal sinus (which was there all of this time since the GI bleeding started). Immediately, Lane went to Interventional Radiology where a Neurosurgeon spent 4 hours removing blood clots all over her head. After this procedure, an emergency decompressive hemicraniectomy was performed on the left side of Lane's head to relieve pressure on the brain due to brain swelling. Lane had 4 very large areas of bleeding to her brain: both frontal sides, left parietal, and right occipital. Lane was put on a medication to help with the blood clots that were still forming. The first 10 days was very touch and go due to the continued bleeding and clotting as well as Lane having to be on a ventilator to regulate her breathing.

Lane has been seen by many specialists while being hospitalized in the NeuroICU. One specialist, a Gastroenterologist has a possible diagnosis as to what has caused all of this: Ulcerative Colitis. She now has a tracheotomy that helps her breath through a ventilator. She also has a stomach tube that is giving her the nutrients she needs. The Neurosurgeon says that the parts of her brain that were affected by all of the strokes caused her sight, hearing, and emotion to be affected. Lane is showing signs of progress and improvements but will have to go through extensive rehabilitation.

Anything that you can contribute to Lane's rehabilitation costs is greatly appreciated! Keep flooding Heaven with Prayers! Thank you!
