When Landon passed away, the world lost someone who simply can't be replaced. He wasn’t just a friend to me, he was someone who lived with so much love, joy, and heart that it overflowed into the lives of everyone around him. He didn’t need to try to make an impact, he was the impact. He loved people deeply, he showed up when it mattered, and he carried Christ’s love in everything he did.
That’s why I started this scholarship. I didn’t want Landon’s name to fade with time. I wanted people even those who never got the chance to meet him, to learn who he was and be inspired to live like he did. This isn’t just about remembering him. It’s about carrying his legacy forward. It’s about pushing others to live with that same kind of selflessness, loyalty, faith, and joy that made Landon who he was.
But I couldn’t have done this alone.
This entire project would not be possible without the love, support, and strength of two incredibly special people: Shannon Leighton, Landon’s mom, and Emerson Starr, Landon’s girlfriend. Shannon has shown so much courage and grace in the midst of unimaginable loss, and she’s been involved every step of the way, sharing stories, giving guidance, and helping shape this into something that truly honors her son. Her heart for Landon is powerful, and it’s helped keep this mission grounded in love.
And Emerson, Landon’s whole world, has been a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. The bond she and Landon shared was something rare and beautiful. She’s helped remind me of who Landon was when the grief made things foggy. Her strength and willingness to be part of this journey means more than I can say.
This scholarship is a team effort. It’s built from grief, yes, but also from love, faith, and a commitment to make sure Landon is never forgotten. I hope that through this, others will come to know him, to be moved by his story, and to carry a part of him into the way they live.
Because Landon’s life mattered. It still matters.
And through this, it always will.
