Land-based healing for Marion and Family
Our families are grieving after a cabin belonging to one of our people (Marion Erickson, of Lhts’umusyoo) was deliberately burned in an act of violence. This act has caused deep trauma, sadness, and fear in the community. Especially to Marion and her boys (5 & 14 yrs) as an Indigenous mother and her children, who built the cabin only last summer.
This was more than the loss of a structure. It was an attack on safety, dignity, and cultural survival.
We are raising funds to help this family rebuild what was taken from them. Marion intends on re-building a land-based healing cabin in a different location.
Your support will help:
Rebuild the cabin and replace what was lost in the fire
Support the labourors and carpenters who want to help. Your support will help this hurting family return to the land.
Provide a safe, land-based healing space for Indigenous women and children
Marions vision for the cabin was to do for land-based healing for Indigenous women and children in our community, supporting birth sovereignty, safe spaces, cultural camps, and programs rooted in Dakelh knowledge and healing. We are asking for support with this vision.
This is about more than rebuilding. It’s about standing with Indigenous women, rejecting violence, and restoring the safety and strength that comes from being on the land.
