Lance Thyroid Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
My name is Lance Post from Virginia Beach, VA. I'm 30 years old. I have a family history of dealing with different types of cancer...my father lost his life to Colon Cancer at the age of 37, after getting diagnosed at 31. I had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, diagnosed at 18 months, and went into remission at age 12. Never in my life, after becoming a cancer survivor, has it ever occurred to me; that once again, I would be dealing with this. I always believed to be an optimistic, confident, humble, hard-working go-getter...I always had whoever had my back; no matter who you were. I was going to school full-time...in the pre-req phase of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Virginia Beach Tidewater Community College, and working full-time as a server at Bahama Breeze. I first questioned the lump in the right side of my throat about 2 summers ago. Like every little "illness" I had, I was one that didn't immediately run to the hospital. Then, I started having involuntary, uncontrollable right hand shakiness; which came and went with heightened emotions. I started having uncontrollable anxiety, depression, lack of hunger, motivation, and energy. Not until this past February, that my little brother forced me to get health insurance, did I establish a PCP, and took myself to the doctor. After all these lab tests and whatnot, my life changed yet again about 3 weeks ago and have been beyond devastated that my family and I have to go through this again. My doctor told me I have Hypothyroidism, Benign Essential Tremors, & Stage 2 malignant Papillary Thyroid Cancer, which has begun to spread into my lymph nodes. Today, May 26th, I would have to drop out of all my summer classes...to prepare for the coming weeks/months. I have an MRI scheduled for this Friday, May 29th; based on those test results, a Total Thyroidectomy is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th. I have 3 doctors attacking this with a vengeance: my PCP, Dr. Mitchell B. Miller of Coastal Family Practice, my throat surgeon, Dr. Scott Morin of Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeons, and my Endocrinologist, Dr. Elizabeth Mason of Bayview Physicians Group. After surgery, I will have to undergo Radioactive Iodine Ablation (RAI) Treatment, and I don't know how many prescription medication that I would have to take. I have been incessantly researching costs, but keep getting approximate  of $20,000-40,000 for surgery and $400 with the RAI. I am asking for $15,000, to help offset the incurring medical expenses that will be detrimental to myself and my family. Whatever my family and friends can donate and help, I am forever grateful. Thank you so much for reading my story, and God-willing; I will kick this cancer's butt; yet again.
