**Burial for Lance organised - Monday 8 September 2:45pm Ferntree Gully Cemetery - anyone is welcome to be there**
Hey there everyone, I’m Sarah, raising funds to pay for the burial of Mr. Lance Brown Gillespie, who has been in the care of the Melbourne Coroner (at the morgue) since February 28 2025.
This is the date of recorded death, after Victorian Public Housing office (finally) called Police to do Welfare check - Lance was discovered deceased in his long term home in Frankston - it is believed Lance died sometime between middle to end of October 2024 - cause of death “not determined” due to state of his body on arrival to Coroner.
Housing had appointment set with Lance for mandatory safety check of house November 4 2024 (Lance’s 62nd birthday), with calling card left stating no one home or could not get entry to house - it then took Housing office another 4 months, before deciding to do welfare check - Housing continued to take money from Lance’s account for rent until end April - I have since found out Lance had serious health concerns with diabetes complications.
I’m a friend of 40+ years and an ex-partner of over 10 years ago, and the only person the coroner and police located connected to Lance - his mother Jeanette died 2022, his father died in 1985, and no known contact for younger sister Leeann Gillespie.
Lance held the final wish to be buried with his younger brother, Sean Andrew Gillespie 22/07/1967-13/11/1984 at Ferntree Gully Cemetery - Sean died in tragic circumstances having a brain aneurysm age 17 - Lance never got over this loss of his brother, and he also paid for and organised Sean’s funeral and burial in 1984. Lance was just 21 years old and had to bury his younger brother, because his parents were separated and dysfunctional.
If you are still reading, thank you - I have finally been given approval for Lance to be buried with his brother as of Friday 22 August 2025. This will be a burial only, with costs including transport from the coroner to his grave and the cemetery fees incurred to open the grave. Anythingleftover will be contributed to a headstone for both Lance and Sean - brothers together again, getting ready for another earth adventure!
Any amount no matter how small will be gratefully received to ensure this man can finally be laid to rest and off to the spirit world in ford power!
happy to provide initial quote and invoice, from Ted Bull and daughter Funeral Home Melbourne.
Thank you - Sarah
**I’m adding proceeds from any saleable items, such as couple of cars with parts and some tools.. Office of Housing need to make the house safe for me to enter.. so maybe more things.. taken them until last week to tell me they couldn’t do forensic clean or the “fogging” procedure because power not on.. (Errm so turn it on duh ) months and months done nothing.. definitely no compassion**
