Hello Friends!
I am overjoyed to announce I will be attending the University of San Francisco School of Law this fall. Earning a law degree from USF will give me the tools and opportunities to battle injustice and positively impact my community through law. My objective is not only to advocate the public interest, but also to lead others to do the same.
If you are thinking didn’t Lana study biology at Berkeley? I thought she was premed, than you are correct. At UCB, I studied molecular and cellular biology. I sincerely enjoyed learning about my world on a microscopic level. However, spending eight to ten hours per week inserting electrodes into frog oocytes, pipetting C. elegans, and analyzing the neuronal growth of neuron smears was not as exciting as I had hoped it would be. This reality forced me to consider pursuing a new career path that would still satisfy my initial reason for pursing medicine–to help people.
After a few years of reflection and introspection I realized earning a law degree would fulfill my aspiration to serve others. Studying law at USF and obtaining hands-on law experience in a city as culturally and economically diverse as San Francisco will be invaluable in helping me realize this goal.
Unfortunately, law school is quite pricey. USF’s estimated cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books, and transportation is $77,188 per year. I was blessed to receive a healthy amount of scholarship money, but am still $44,188 short. I would greatly appreciate any donation you could afford to make towards my Law School Fund.
