Lana Needs Our Help: Diagnostics & Treatment
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for help for medical expenses for my sweet girl, Lana. In 2017 I rescued her from Austin Humane Society after Hurricane Harvey, when so many dogs were left stranded in shelters. From the moment she fell asleep in the shelter with her head on my knees, I knew she was meant to be mine. She’s been my best bud through college, two townhomes, three apartments, and life’s ups and downs. If you’ve ever met her you know she’s the sweetest cuddler, loves everyone meets (especially kids) and has filled my life and so many of my friends and family with endless love. (Oh, and you can’t leave her presence until you’ve given her butt scratches, belly rubs and a treat)
Recently, she started having issues that we first thought were with her hind legs, but after her X Ray our vet now believes it could be an issue related to her spine (infection, dislocated disc, tumor). Over the past few days, her condition has worsened and she can only crawl as walking had been extremely painful. Watching her struggle and not being able to fully take her pain away has been heartbreaking.
The best way to diagnose what’s happening is to send her to a specialist to conduct an MRI, which the visit is projected to cost up to $5,000. We were told to anticipate additional costs for any medical treatment needed once we find out what is the cause of all her pain.
I got Lana when I was 19, just after finishing my freshman year of college, and she’s been my constant ever since. She’s taught me love, companionship, responsibility and has truly made me a better person. If you know me, you know I love dogs…even more than people. She’s my first pet and has shaped my life in ways I never imagined. Right now, all I want is to help take her pain away and give her the chance to run and walk again.
Any amount helps as I anticipate this journey to be long and even if you can’t donate, sharing this means the world to us.
Thank you so much for your support.
