Sunday morning, while on their way to church, Bob and Margie Lambert, my in laws, were in a terrible motorcycle accident. They are retired and staying in California for a few months in their fifth wheel to visit with their kids, Dave and Angela. While riding along Highway 9 a SUV didn't see them and pulled out in front of them and they hit it going about 35 miles per hour. They were both airlifted to separate hospitals in the bay area, Bob to Stanford and Margie to San Jose Regional. They both went into surgery that night to try to repair the multiple compound open fractures they sustained. They both have fractured right legs and right arms. Bob had a laceration to his liver which appears to have stabilized and has a fractured pelvis as well. Margie also has a fractured left foot in addition to around 4 inches of bone missing from her right leg and a shattered femur. On a positive note, God was looking out for them because neither of them have head injuries or major internal organ damage. They are both lucid and talking. It is going to be a long road for them to recover. The doctor said Margie might not walk for four months and cannot be in a home with stairs. They will need physical therapy, home health nursing and whatever else crops up. We are praying the surgeons washed the open fractures well enough and got antibiotics into them soon enough that they do not get bone infections. We are asking for your help to take some of the financial burden and worries away from them. Thank you for anything you can do, including sharing this with others. God bless you.
