On May 22, 2017 a mother and her nine year old son, Lamar, were ambushed in their home while sleeping, they were shot multiple times. Mother was hospitalized and later released. Lamar is still fighting for his life.
Lamar was shot ten times, he has undergone over eleven surgeries and has lost his right eye as a result of this incident. Initially, Lamar was not expected to survive due to the extent of his injuries. Let us sit with that information… instead of fundraising to cover medical expenses this could have been a plea to help cover the costs of a funeral for a nine year old boy.
When asked to describe Lamar, his mother, takes a deep breath and then a smile spreads across her face. She describes Lamar as a fun loving, goof-ball, who loves to swim, loves math, including double digit division (as a third grader). However, the smile is cut short as her eyes begin to fill with tears. She quickly wipes her eyes and continues to describe her baby. She begins again… Lamar loves science, airplanes, and all things related to Legos. Mother went on to explain that Lamar’s favorite foods include fried chicken, grits and pancakes.
The goal of this page is to raise enough money to cover the cost of the medical expenses, which includes continued life-saving measures as well as the cost associated with giving Lamar a prosthetic eye.
The medical expenses alone is more than family can cover.
Lamar did nothing to provoke this senseless attack. Please find it in your heart/soul to contribute whatever you can for his future.
