Lamar Christian School in Purvis, Mississippi, is more than a small school in a small town. It is a place where students are loved, prayed for, and guided in both faith and education. In a world where many children can feel overlooked, this school has faithfully served its students and families with a Christ-centered foundation, teaching not only academics, but character, compassion, and the love of Jesus.
On May 6, 2026, LCS suffered damage from a tornado, leaving behind destruction that insurance will not fully cover.
Yet even in hardship, the heart of this school remains strong. The school generously allowed disaster relief organizations to set up on their property and provide meals to local victims. The school has also allowed a local church that was destroyed to use their facilities for services.
There are parts of the school that will need rebuilding, but the school mission has never changed. That mission is to pour into the lives of their students and point them toward Christ. Small schools often do the quiet work that many never see. Their teachers go the extra mile, their staff treat students like family, and the school community stands together through both celebration and loss. LCS has been that kind of place for many families in Purvis and the surrounding communities. This is an opportunity for the community and fellow believers to be the hands and feet of Jesus and come alongside them in faith and support. When we help rebuild a Christian school, we are investing in future generations. Investing in children who are learning what it means to love God, love others, and live with a purpose.
