On June 18th, our son Lakyn McKinley Adam Boyd was born early at 34 weeks, weighing 5 lbs 8 oz and measuring 18.5 inches long. During pregnancy, Lakyn was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect called DORV with Taussig-Bing anatomy. Because of this, he was transferred to the cardiac NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where his team is monitoring him and creating the safest plan for his heart. I also developed severe preeclampsia, which made it necessary to deliver him early. During my C-section, I needed a classical incision, making recovery harder while trying to be present for Lakyn in the NICU.

We are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House so we can be close to him, while also trying to split our time with our daughter Evvy, who needs us too. On top of this, TJ does not receive paid parental leave. This fundraiser will help with gas, parking, meals, bills, missed income, and unexpected expenses during Lakyn’s NICU and heart journey.
